PENNINE HAM
Club founding principles agreed August 2024
The club having emerged from Denby Dale amateur radio club in West Yorkshire will be known as Pennine Ham – the full name being ‘Pennines and friends amateur radio club’. Our membership will not be restricted to those living in the Pennine hills and we will actively welcome and encourage members from all over the UK, Europe, USA and the rest of the world.
We will be built around regular online meetings which will be open to all radio amateurs and those interested in our hobby.
We will hold a weekly digital net open to all
We will have a Club website, and Facebook group
We will encourage and organise portable activities where club members can be involved either through joining the activity in person or on air.
We will be forward looking embracing all that amateur radio has to offer where new technologies are having a huge impact on the hobby. We will do our best to publicise widely our activities.
We will offer FREE membership to all those who would like to show their support for what we are doing and trying to achieve. Club members will all be invited to participate in our activities as they wish. Membership will show that they sign up to these principles. Club members will be able to freely participate in our online talks, our portable operations, and our Social media platforms
The club will be organised and run by its PAID membership which will be offered at the cost of £20 per annum. The Paid membership will be invited to regular meetings where they can discuss and agree activities, agree the constitution and decide on which Club officers are needed and elect them annually. There will be no separate Club committee as the PAID membership meetings will perform the role of the Club Committee. The paid membership meetings will welcome involvement of its wider free membership through surveys to obtain views to guide the club forward. The Club will elect its officers Chair, Secretary and two more at the AGM.
We the founding members of this new club will Launch the club at an open online meeting and seek support for this initiative. We will build on the excellent work which the club from which we emerged has pioneered such as field days and online talks from radio amateurs across the world showcasing as many aspects of the hobby as we can.
The club is happy to provide support to all other amateur radio clubs and from amateurs undertaking DXpeditions or special events who would welcome our support in promoting their activities.
We will be especially delighted to provide talks to other clubs and organisations interested in hearing about our hobby and what it does
